Dear Barbadians and Friends of Barbados,

The Prime Minister has designated 2020 as the Year of the Barbadian Diaspora. Barbadians worldwide will be invited to return to Barbados to participate in a full year of parish-based celebrations, commencing in January in St. Lucy and culminating in St. Michael for Independence.

The highlight of the calendar of events will be the culmination of the celebrations at the national level with an elevated “Christmas in Queen’s Park” in December 2020.

Community groups, churches and individuals will be encouraged to plan and execute a wide range of activities featuring traditional music, sports, food and other social events.

In 2020, the Parish celebrations have been approved by the Cabinet and will be as follows:-

Jan – St. Lucy
Feb – St. Peter
Mar – St. Thomas
Apr – St. Joseph
My – St. John
Jun – St. George
Jul – St. Philip
Aug – St. Andrew
Sep – St. James
Oct – Christ Church
Nov – St. Michael up until Nov. 29 and then
From Nov. 30 until Dec 31st the entire Nation.
